I wonder if it’s only in West Virginia that “jack” is used as an adjective, as in “I didn’t work today because it was a snow day. I still didn’t get jack done.” I know what it’s short for, but I still wonder if it’s an Appalachian thing or not.
Anyway, I guess I did get a couple of things accomplished. I’ve now burned the first three seasons and the fifth season of SG-1 and have the rest dl’ing. I can’t believe I just watched this show for the first time last summer. Oh well, at least I was able to create a new obsession with it. I read where tonight’s LOST is the Hurley ep. Gawd, I hope they don’t mess this up.
Hobbit’s feeling better today and wants me to thank you guys for wishing her good thoughts. She will NOT, however, share her catnip.

I’m off to beg the state of WV to issue me a driver’s license since my Florida license expires Thursday. Yes, I know I haven’t lived in Florida for *counts fingers* 6 years, but damn, I wanted to get my money’s worth out of that one. If all goes well, I’ll have to take only the vision test, which I should be able to pass now that eye seems to be healed. I also have to get the oil changed in Anduril, but they said I could come in at any time.

I know it’s the spirit of giving and expecting nothing in return that makes the season. Now that that is out of the way, I have a question with a little background info. There is someone I know only online. I’ve never talked to this person via messenger or email or anything. The person is always referring to their family’s poverty. I feel for the person, because well, I see a lot of that here in WV. Anyway, the person has a lot of talent in graphics, web design, etc. So I upgraded the person’s LJ account as a gift unbeknownst to anyone.
Here’s the part that has me wondering: the response I got was “thanks.” I guess I was hoping for something that sounded a little more heartfelt, perhaps? I don’t know. I do know that I won’t do anything so rash and foolish in the name of goodwill again.

The ultimate payback from Fate. I signed a contract to work here in WV, and it’s ok because I really like my Speech Pathologist’s duties and pay. But, the very DAY I signed it, I got a call for the job I really wanted in NC. I got the job. Too frellin late now, lady!! Damn, there must be something GREAT just waiting for me here. There just has to be!
