I’m Back

twilogo.jpgThanks to Flo, I’ve now read and watched Twilight.  If I was still a teenager, I think I would be in love right now.  As it is, however, we laughed.  A lot.  Inappropriately.  Ha!  To be fair, most of the audience in the theatre laughed along with us, so it’s not just that we’re getting old.  We wore our “Cullen Boys” shirts and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were quite a few adults in attendance.  We struck up a conversation with the ladies behind us and found out they are English teachers and have enjoyed the books, but wanted to know if the film would help or hurt their chances of convincing more teens to read.  Um, good luck, ladies.

Sean Bean finally returned to Crusoe this week.  I’m currently watching on Hulu, and I’m hoping it’s more than the cumulative 3.1 minutes we’ve had so far.  The show’s alright, I suppose, but let’s face it–I only watch for Bean.  SGA was another skip for me this week.  I watched the teaser that showed Shep and Ronon going camping, realized it was the McKay/Keller ep, and promptly deleted it from the DVR.  It still boggles my mind how this show managed to go from my #1 to an automatic delete.  Wow.  As usual, Merlin entertained, even though it was pretty much a filler episode.  Some relationships were heightened slightly, so I guess the ep had its merits.

I’ve been using the new WP for a month or so now, and with this newer version, I can use widgets.  I could never get them to work properly in the past, and to be honest, I didn’t care if they worked or not.  Now, however, you can hardly get through the directory without people calling their code “Plugins” but actually meaning “Widget”.  If you can’t run it as a plugin, you shouldn’t call it as such.  I think WP needs a separate “Widget” listing.  Luckily, some widget authors are willing to help you convert their code to standalone code, such as Peter from AVH Amazon, but most requests go unanswered.  There’s a widget that allows you to execute any standalone code, so to be assured that you can use that dandy new thing you’ve found, you’re almost bound to the use of widgets.  Grr, and OK.  As for the theme, if it won’t load properly, hit the site with a ctrl-f5 and that should do it.

Tuesday and Friday were snow days.  Hooray!  :cold:

I am elevating this show to the level of  . This episode had all the things I’ve loved so far and lots more of new things to love. I can’t even begin to say how amazing Lancelot is, and I hope we see more of him in the future. Geeky!Merlin with the thumbs up–Ha! Lancelot and Gwen–Ooh, and Awww. Lancelot and every scene he was in–Yum!

At this point, I think the following people are in love with Lancelot: Me, of course, Merlin, Gwen, Arthur, all the other knights, and pretty much everyone else in Camelot (except Giles..Boo!).

My only worry is, “How do you follow up next week when this week ends?”

Oh, and I’m playing around with the site. I’ve added the theme switcher back if you want to change themes.

Hi-Tech Review

Google Chrome Browser

There are a few things I like about it:

It is fast
Switching tabs is smooth as buttah
Having the tabs on top was actually comfortable.

There are more things I don’t like about it:

It’s not a one-stop shop like FF (no extensions, ads everywhere, etc.)
It’s hideous
No right-click reload!!! For obsessive freaks like me, that’s a deal breaker.
Did I mention ads….everywhere?!? With Adblock Plus and Firefox, I didn’t realize there were so many sites displaying ads. Blech.
The “Most Visited” page is a curse. I want my site to be the first box listed, so now I have to reload my site repeatedly, thus driving up the cost of bandwidth usage (only not really, since I have a readership of, like, 2…maybe 3).

Bottom line: I though about using it as a quick browser, but why get out of sync with FF, which I love and will have to rely on when uploading, editing, designing, etc.? NOT SWITCHING.

More Site Stuff

I added a few rotating headers, inspired by Trench of 7milesdown. Before anyone asks, yes, I do know that his use is far superior to my own. I also revamped the “About Jenn” page. It’s still not complete, but by using a gallery instead of my random images, it looks a helluva lot better at first glance. It’s funny how when you actually sit down to list all the things you love, you struggle to think of the things that YOU LOVE. Heh.

I skipped SGA, so I guess the love has really left me. I’m sad about that. At least we got “Turn Left” (Doctor Who) tonight. Now I’ve seen that episode at least 10 times, but having it on air is just cool.

The aforementioned dinner fell through, but Dad assures me that we’re going tomorrow. I can already taste the greatness. I  beef.

[Edit: Because I hate this theme, I'll be getting a new one tomorrow, or at least going with my own that works. Iframes? Seriously?!? Ugh!!!]

[Edit Edit: I like this theme. Since I didn't create it, there may be bugs I don't know about. See any? I know that in my IE7, the right sidebar gets smooshy in places, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why or correct it. Oh well. Use FF or Opera anyway  ]

I’ve had to lose the LJ plugin that allowed me to crosspost. I was trying to tidy up the code a little, went with someone’s suggestion, and killed it dead. I never post on LJ, so that wasn’t something I was concerned about, but SEVERAL posts on this site were written with LJ tags, which obviously, won’t work anymore. Therefore, if you see any reference to LJ-ish things, they will just be a hot mess. I was able to find a good enough moodtheme plugin by Cricket (no, I will NOT give my my moodthemes, thankyouverymuch).

Ooh, speaking of HOT MESS. Project Runway. Blayne. I think I’ll just call him “Mango”. Why? Well, he LOOKS like Mango, he SOUNDS like Mango (liciousnness….blech!), and above all else, he f’n IS Mango. Seriously, let the tanning go. He is the color of a overripe mango. And he annoys me. Yup.
