Weekender

Oct 13, 2006 in:

hobbit.jpgI’m re-reading OoTP–again. I’m surprised by how much I enjoy reading it, but with the details of the movie coming in, I want to be sure I KNOW the story as written, and not as seen through a screenwriter, director, actor, etc. I’m going to pace myself, though, so I’m not finished in a day or two.

With the below freezing temperatures, I’m reminded that my heater isn’t working properly. The temperature stays the correct level in every room except the living room, where I have no vent. I covered the vent to place the armoire over it, and I haven’t gotten around to adding a new vent. Mom said we’d put one in this weekend, so I guess I get to learn about jigsaws and heating ducts. Yay!

istar1.jpgHobbit and Istar are, well, fighting a lot. I *think* they’re playing and it looks like Hob’s fighting back more. I’m glad to see her fight and not run, because he needs to be put in his place sometimes. Overall, it’s a nice little vibe. I do think, however, that he suffers from Stockholm Syndrome or something. He will bite the hell out of Hobbit, me, the furniture, and anything else he can target until I give him a bath. Normally, cats will fight to the death to get out of taking baths, but he LOVES it. After getting a bath, he purrs and calms down and becomes the sweetest thing in the world. Yep, I now have two insane kitties. :jack:

Total till

I made just under $80 this weekend selling junk.  What’s even better is the fact that most of my profit came from items that had been in my house when I purchased it such as curtains, a painting, trinkets, etc.  100% profit on those things!  Yay!  I’m planning on using my new money at Dragon*Con for autographs, so watch out, Ba’al, Teal’c, Xander, and the rest…I’m headed your way!

Hobbiton Revisited

Jul 03, 2006 in:

I’ve purged tons of themes from the site and settled on Hobbiton as the default at least for now. Chances are I’ll do a Stargate theme of some kind, but then again, I may just sit for a bit.

My home improvement efforts continue and I have added the new front door that I so desperately wanted from the time I bought my house. I feel very good about it now. I *still* have to fix up Fandom Room, and I plan to work on it very soon. I have an idea about how I can hang my shelves, but since I have no practical knowledge of construction matters, I could be way off base.

My family is in San Diego for the 4th, so it looks like Hobbit and I will be having our cookout alone. Happy Independence Day!

Whacker!

May 29, 2006 in:

Gee, who knew letting the LJ go would be so liberating! I’m back to posting all the nonsense of my life again. Yay!

I bought a lawn mower today. Damn, it’s nicer than my car. I also bought a weed whacker and lots of accessories to go with each of them. Of course, in my novice ways, I broke the weedeater straightaway, but it’s fixable (just not by me). Heh.

New RR/RW challenge starts tonight and we’ll see how the new faces are, though I’m doubting I’ll like it as much as the previous challenges.

Ton of work related tasks to finish this week, starting tomorrow with the bombardment of seniors with all the crap they didn’t complete aleady. Joy. The good news is that I get to hang out with Flo for a little bit, so that will be nice. Throw in some [info]xash13x and it’s a BCHS reunion!

You Want an Update?

May 23, 2006 in:

No? Oh. LOST season finale tonight tomorrow night. Whoo, no hoo. Hopefully we can add the hoo once it’s over. The new Real World/ Road Rules Challenge, “Fresh Meat,” isn’t doing it for me yet. I hate newbies. I want to see my old friends that I’ve grown up with, dammit. Top Chef isn’t on tonight, I guess it wraps up next week because it’s.not.Wednesday (note to self: get a clue). Man, I really want to see Harold take that one. Tiffani is a bitch, and she’s just like me, therefore I’m required to hate her. Doctor Who keeps on keeping on, and at the risk of sounding spoilery, DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT. Take characters I love, why don’t you. What do you care if I bawl my eyes out over the little guy. MY Doctor would have been better, I think.

It’s no secret that I hate much of society. Normally, I would teeter on the edge of embolism at the sight of a portable restroom being placed in my backyard. However, the Parks Authority has done just that, and I have proof. But in a strange turn of events, whenever I see it, I don’t see a Port-A-Potty, I see my very own TARDIS. Fandom or idiocy? You decide.

Early Summer colds are the worst. I figure that out of the 8 million people in NYC, I came home with the germs of at least 2/3 of them. Ugh.

There’s A Line

Apr 11, 2006 in:

There’s a line…and I’ve crossed it. I know it. I can feel it. The phases I’ve gone through in life- preppy, street, groupie- they’ve all lead to this. I’m in love. With Doctor Who. More specifically, The Doctor. I know it’s a geeky thing. I know I’m not supposed to be this way. I don’t care. I’m going to watch all the Doctor Who vids I can find, get a bunch of icons, and call him my own.

Actually, I remember watching really old Doctor Who eps on PBS after Big Blue Marble when I was a kid. But that Doctor? NOTHING like this one. Nope, not at all. This one is just *guh* with charm and quirkiness. *GUH* I say!

And so it begins.

In other news, I cut my grass for the first time today. Not “cut the grass where I live”; no, I cut MY grass, as in “I own it!” Holy hell, y’all, I own stuff!

Relief!

After turning in three assignments in two days, I feel like a new woman. Only one assignment in each class remains, and I have a couple of weeks to complete them. Sooo, I’m hoping to vid something in the next week or so, but as usual, I have no song choice. So basically, I’m just a wannabe vidder. Heh.

The new water heater seems to be working out just fine, and OMG do I need to send my mom to a spa or something. Without her, I wouldn’t have had hot water for days, and I continue to marvel at her ability to do literally ANYTHING. Thanks, Mom!
