Today is my dad’s birthday and even though I have a pretty bad Spring cold, I’ll be going to his house to celebrate. Happy Day, Dad! I spent a little time up there yesterday, as I had to have someone escort me to the Praxis II exam I had to take in order to be certified for my job. I have NO IDEA how I did on that test. I am an excellent test taker (as I’ve stated in the past), but this wasn’t a test of counseling. This was a test of common sense, which could be bad for ol’ Jenny-Girl. Heh.

Allow me, for a moment, to speak televisionally. LOST, as we knew and loved, is completely done. I have achieved closure now, and can nearly watch the show again. I’ve accepted that the show is about some old white men and their ridiculous dealings. What it is NOT is a show about the survivors of a plane crash. This became evident during the last episode, where it was “Elsewhere on the island, some people were seen on a beach.” The stories of Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke, Michael, Walt, Sun, Jin, Hurley, Charlie, Claire, Shannon, Boone, etc. are meaningless. They are nothing but side plots now. When all is said and done, they will be afterthoughts in the synopsis of the show. The end of the synopsis will read, “…and survivors of a plane crash caused by the island were featured in flashbacks and later, flashforwards due to their contact with Ben and Mr. Widmore.) *sigh* I miss the first year so much. Now that the smokemonster (which is a stupid device, anyway) can be controlled, there’s no inherent fear of the unknown. It really is a show about rich old men playing around with an island. Sad, really.

The two-part Doctor Who episode is here, and Part One was the best of the early season two-parters yet. I enjoyed seeing Martha and Donna together and I’m really looking forward next week. I’ve also started watching The Sarah Jane Adventures on SciFi. I’m content with just watching the episodes there, so I won’t be burning them to disc, but I’m really enjoying the show, kids and all. Lots of fun!

I was in the mood to celebrate yesterday. I spoke with the professor who’s in charge of certification and who assured me that he’s well sure that I don’t need two more classes. If I had anyone, ANYONE, to go out with, I would have bought drinks aplenty. As it was, I decided to celebrate by doing something I’ve been thinking about for years now. I got the elvish symbol for “9″ tattooed on my ring finger. I had them use light brown ink so that if glanced, it could be overlooked as freckles or a henna marking. Once it heals, I’ll post pics

Spring break is here and I am taking full advantage of it. How, you ask? By doing lots of nothing. Unlike the number for nothing, “0″, actual nothings add up to a little bit of something. Here’s a little of what I’ve done so far:

Several naps (SEVERAL)
Learned a little about Julius Caesar and Nero (Nephew of Caligula…explains a lot!)
Finished a few assignments
Actively delayed remaining assignments
Fought off a cold
Started a Torchwood vid
Experienced four vid program crashes
Experienced power outage while vidding
Given up on Torchwood vid
Watched Voyager as much as possible
Watched horrible Odysseus movie on Sci-Fi
Wanted to watch The 10th Kingdom again
Tried to keep dropping in on Cage and Scotti to a minimum
Spent quality time with Hobbit and Istar

I need money. I may have to take two more classes afterall, and I want, no, I NEED, to go to Dragon*Con again. In addition to Cliff Simon, I see they’ve just added Ianto from Torchwood. It would be nice to see an actor who’s actually the size of real people and not the “actor” size, which tends to be much, much smaller. I’m not going to go on and on about money troubles, but suffice to say, if I had enough money to spare for D*C, I’d be a very very happy girl.

For the last 12 hours, I’ve had The Lord of The Rings playing.  Sure, I’ve taken some time from watching to do housework and watch DW (which was much darker than I’d imagined).  Now, a little part of me feels lost.  I haven’t watched LOTR in its entirety for quite some time and I’m a little surprised it still moves me just as much as the first time ’round.  I guess it’s something that’s just going to stay with me…hopefully, forever.

Did I mention how glad I was to have read Torchwood spoilers? What I had read was true, and I guess knowing made it more bearable.

It will be both interesting and sad to see where the show goes.

Pompeii!

Here’s one of the first pictures of Scotti Lee on her first day at home. Nanny, Cage and Aunt Jenn spent the day getting everything ready for her and she arrived home at around 2:00pm.

If you look at pictures of my brother when he was a baby, you’d see a huge resemblance. I hope to get a picture of her with her eyes open, but that rarely seems to happen when I’m around.

Oh, and I can’t say I’ve never held a baby anymore. I held her. Twice. Go me!

Sadly, I have to return to work tomorrow. It’s been nice having this mini-vacation.

In other news, um, there isn’t any.

Scotti Lee Miller was born April 1, 2008 at 7:00pm. She weighs in at 8lbs. and owns the runway with her 21 1/4 inch height. Even though she’s a month earlier than first projected, she already looks around, plays with the cord to her heart monitor and enjoys passing secret spit bubble messages with her brother, Cage. She has her mom’s full head of dark hair and her dad’s eyes and lips (we’re talking Jolie territory here). Mother, father, and daughter are fine and should be home in a day or two.

She’s perfect, and I’m so proud to be Aunt Jenn to my little niece!
