Broke As A . . .

Aug 30, 2007

I’m still alive and kicking, but dude, I am broke as a joke. I don’t get paid until September 15th and my last check arrived, oh, around June 30th. Not that anyone would ever consider such a thing, but never, EVER, hire me to manage your finances. You’ll be homeless and starving. Yeah.

Work is going pretty great this year. The students are terrific and the change in administration has been reinvigorating. I have no plans for the holiday weekend, and it’s a good thing (see above re: BROKE). I think I’ll finish the spring cleaning around here and spend a nice long weekend at home with the kids :)

The Greater Good

My, oh my. That phrase keeps popping up, doesn’t it?

Jason Momoa is going to be at Dragon*Con. I am not. Do you see the problem here?!? I considered borrowing the money to attend just to see him. Seriously. Had it been Sean Bean, I would have, but I guess I can live without seeing Jason in the flesh. Jason, flesh, Jason, flesh. Gah! It’s probably best that I don’t go and make an utter fool of myself, a la, Cliff Simon last year. I should try to hang onto that last shred of dignity I’ve been clinging to for so long.

Yes, it’s best that I not attend this year. Be warned, however! I’ll have the money to go next year and should Jason return, I can’t promise I won’t be “that girl” who does something to embarrass herself and everyone around her.

Fandom Hate

Aug 20, 2007 in:

I have an abundance of fandom love. I have delved deep into various ’ships, groups, and singularities. With such passion, comes the converse. The fandom hate. Only once before have the two collided; when John and Aeryn became Cameron and Vala. I dealt with it quite well and even embraced both characters and actors. I have a feeling it will NOT be the case this time.

Enough fun, I’m off to work!

Sonic Feeder

Aug 19, 2007 in:

I feel bad for laughing. A little.

Istar was watching Doctor Who’s “The Runaway Bride” with me when The Doctor used his sonic screwdriver to open the Tardis. I never noticed before, but Hobbit and Istar’s new feeders make the exact same sound as the screwdriver when they rotate for feeding times. Needless to say, Istar bolted into his room expecting dinner and returned vocally displeased at his deception.

:bubbly: Happy 21st Birthday to Ashley! :bubbly:

In case I don’t get a chance to see you today, I hope it’s a wonderful day, and an even better year!

Flash! Ah-ahhhhhh!

Aug 10, 2007 in:

flash-gordon.jpg I’ve seen several early reviews of the new Flash Gordon series, and they haven’t been as bad as I’d feared. In fact, the “worst” I’ve read is that it’s a bit slow in the set up. I’m definitely going to give it a chance. It’s not like I have anything else to do on a Friday night, so why not?

Following up on Ben’s last comment, yes, Eureka had the singularly most “Awwww” moment in television history this week. When Zoe told Jack her IQ was 112 (when it was really 157, but she knew his was 111), his response was so full of awesome that it was near impossible to not want to jump on screen for a group hug. I am loving this show more and more and I hope it has many more great episodes and seasons.
