NOT YET, WALTER! NOT YET! S09.Ep03 “Origin” : Cam and Teal’c were going to free Daniel and Vala from their connection with Harrid and Sallis by throwing the Ancient device into the energy vortex of the gate. Walter was dialing the gate, and they needed perfect timing so they wouldn’t miss the vortex.

Anyway, my point is that it’s TOO SOON to be posting spoilers from Book 7, dammit. The NY Times ran its “review” which obviously included spoilers, so as to trump all other media outlets. I’m afraid that I may just avoid the computer until I’ve finished reading, sometime around Sunday morning. I’ll probably just stay away from any news sources, LJ, RSS readers (which will KILL me), and anything else that may reveal too much. I’ll stick to my DVRd shows and wait anxiously for my book.

Another quote from SG-1 is befitting my mailman, who truly is an idiot every day of the week (S03.Ep14 “Foothold”). If you’ve ever seen the Chevy Chase movie Funny Farm, you can imagine just how nuts this guy is. I think he delivers mail to whomever he wants, whenever he wants. I know I received my neighbor’s tax refund once. I’d put my chances at getting my book delivered on time at around 50%. Now I can tell you, if I don’t get my book, I’m going to be hell to deal with, especially if everyone is sold out (which I doubt will happen). When Book 6 came out, I was living with the ‘rents and their mailman is supurb. He even drove all the way up their driveway to hand deliver my book to me. Damn, I should have had it shipped to them! Arrrgh! Why didn’t I think?!? Anyway, I’d say things will be alright, and I’m going to stop rambling now.

Indeed.

OotP Review

Total suckage until the last eight minutes.

There’s really no need for me to say anything, as I’m sure it has been, or will be, said thousands of times by others. I was completely unimpressed with the Dumbledore/Voldemort showdown, but as soon as it ended, wow! The last eight minutes are exactly how I think of Harry and what makes him so. It’s a little like my “How It Ends” vid, even. So filmmakers, remember, if you have only a few good moments, put them at the end so people forget the rest of the crap.

Will.Not.Read

Arrrgh! Like most of the world, I now have access to the last book. I will.not.read. I.will.not.read.

Actually, I don’t have too much problem with waiting, as it’s only a few more days now, but the temptation is soooo great. Arrrgh!

I’m enjoying the first two years of Doctor Who right now. Well, enjoying may not be the right word… I’m actually killing time until Susan and her screechy voice are GONE. I’m very much wanting to get to The Third Doctor, as he is the one I remember most from childhood. I guess our local PBS station had a few years of delay in airing the show. I remember Four as well, but The Third Doctor was my favorite. How ’bout that?

Happy Hump Day!

Improving UPS

I love UPS. I have rarely had a problem with them. This isn’t a gripe, so much as a suggestion.

I’ll start at the beginning of my brilliant flash. Hobbit and Istar are in dire need of automatic feeders. Each of them believes themselves to be either pigs or goldfish, willing to eat themselves to death. Therefore, I ordered two feeders from Amazon.com. UPS brought my packages to me today, days before the estimated delivery date. Thanks!

I can’t use the feeders yet. Why? I have no 9-volt batteries. It is my suggestion that UPS drivers start carrying batteries on their trucks, much like the vendors on Doctor Who who seem to have everything you could ever want. Think of the money they’d make off of battery sales!

Gosh, I’m lazy.

Maybe Some Other Time

I’m not going to Dragon*Con this year. I’m really bummed about it, but looking at the list of celebs (the main reason I go), there are only a handful I would have wanted to see. As of today, here’s my list of who I wish I could have seen:

LOTR: Sean Astin

Stargate: Alexis Cruz (who never made it last year), Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks, Paul McGillion, Louis Gossett, Jr., and Corin Nemec.

Others: Virginia Hey (though the workshop is too expensive this year) and the few HP stars, who will undoubtedly cancel last minute like last year.

I guess overall, I’m not missing too much and unless the guest list explodes within the next month, I’m not going to feel too badly.
