Worldly Girl

bscap0116.jpg First of all, Heroes owns. It just does. To have Eccleston (who will probably never be referred to by his character’s name) say, “Fantastic!” was brilliance. Just as I was starting to yell, “Stop showing Claire; no one cares!” they went and got me interested in her again. Damn. In a good way.

In the next three weeks, I will be venturing to the big city of Charleston for class two times and the State ACT conference once. I should get an EZ-Pass and a sublet. Heh. Hopefully, I’ll get to see my Chas buddies a little while I’m in town. The class weekends will be rough, though, because I’ll be getting up at 4:30am, working until I make the 3 hour drive to Charleston, sitting in class until 10:30pm and then going back Saturday for more class from 8am-6pm. Ugh. Hopefully, one more semester and I’ll be finished.

I think I’ll get to bed early tonight. I forgot to turn my alarm clock on after yesterday’s snowday and had I not had a hungry Hobbit waking me up, I may have slept the whole day away. Thanks, Hob!!

If A Tree Falls . . .

Site update news:
You will no longer receive emails whenever someone posts a comment, even if you were previously subscribed. The plugin that allowed that is no longer compatible with WP 2.1. Sorry. In other news, I may not receive emails that you have commented to my posts, so if there’s a delay in me commenting back, well, there you have it.

I did find what may be the find of the century to help me receive notifications, though. The WP-PHPMailer plugin seems to be working just fine behind the scenes, and after my ALL DAY quest to conquer this problem (including 2 unsuccessful forum posts and 3 very unsuccessful phone calls to tech support), I need this to work for my sanity’s sake.

If you don’t mind, leave a comment to this post saying just about anything you feel like saying so I can see if I get the email. Please? :clown:

Then Again . . .

So I said to myself, “Self?” I said, “Next snow day you’re going to make a vid.” That was before [info]di_br made her mindblowing MirrorMask vid and [info]ana_br did the unthinkable and made a One Tree Hill vid that I loved (having never seen the show)! After spending two hours clipping THE FIRST EPISODE of Heroes, I’ve decided that since I only marginally liked the song I was using, I’m staying on hiatus for a bit longer. I really need to listen to more music. I love vidding, but when there’s no song, there’s no vid, and I’ve already used every song I like. Arrgh.

So my number one recommendation is to check out the two vids I mentioned because I can tell you, watching those is a helluva lot easier than making one, and 100x more enjoyable.

I’m getting reeeealy tired of bogus weather forecasts. For the last week, we were promised lots of snow. What did we actually receive? Near nothing. Oh sure, we got a little excited and got to go home 2 hours early on Thursday, but in actuality, we could have stayed with no problem. We got a 2 hour delay on Friday, but that was more of a “wind-chill delay” because there sure as heck wasn’t any snow causing any problems.

Unless we get a ton of :flake: tonight, I bet we don’t get any kind of work reprieve tomorrow. I don’t think I’d mind so much if the forecast didn’t keep calling for snow. Grrrr.

Testing out the new Wordpress 2.1/Live+Press compatability. Using my quick fix seems to work, but on a test post, I didn’t get my mood icon to show. Let’s see if it does this time….

[Edit--obviously, it works :) ]

Technobabble about LivePress

Jan 21, 2007 in:

I use Live+Press to mix my site here with a little Livejournal. The original plugin was made by the hugely talented Unteins, but hasn’t really been updated much since. He includes a link to a fix that has been working for me since the Wordpress 1.5-2.0 era. Now that Wordpress 2.1 is coming, with many changes, of course, Live+Press doesn’t like it. On my test site, I have Live+Press working again, but only under one quirky condition. In order to have the options appear on a new post, I have to type the title of the post and press “Enter”. The new posting page, rather than being called post.php, is post-new.php and LP is not made to work with that file. I edited the core plugin files, but I didn’t know what the hell I was doing, so the options appeared, but didn’t work. One extra “Enter” doesn’t bother me, but I hope someone will fix this plugin soon. I know it’s going to be an easy fix, but I’ve already proven I won’t be the one to do it.

In summation, for anyone with an already functional install of Live+Press, for Wordpress 2.1, type the title of your new post, press “Enter” (which brings up the old post.php?action=edit&post=xx) and continue as always. :wink2:
