New Plan

Aug 29, 2006 in:

We’re still leaving for Dragon*Con on Thursday, but some of my focus has changed. Christopher Judge (Teal’c) has canceled and I am very sad that I won’t get to meet him. Indeed. However, Dr. Weir has been added! This makes me giddy to the point of ridiculousness. Major Lorne from SGA has also been added, as has the psychologist chick. Teyla was always slated to be there, so SGA is making a pretty good showing now. If for some reason, a deity, any deity, wanted to prove its existence to me, Joe Flanigan and/or Jason Momoa would show up, too. Neville and Cho are busy at Hogwarts and won’t be in attendance either, but Viktor Krum is still on board. The rest of my SG-1 wishlist from earlier is still going to be there, and it will be an honor to meet Hammond of Texas (rubs head). Geez, I’m getting exponentially more geeky by the minute. *squee*

p.s. Yes, some con guests have been referred to by their character and some by their real name. It’s just how I roll. Hee!

Celebrity faces

I’ve done this before, but Mark posted his latest one, so now I copy. Hee! Do I like the results? Um, NO. But that’s half the fun I guess.

Heroes

Aug 26, 2006 in:

Before I forget (again), I want to pimp a new show from NBC debuting this Fall. Heroes is about a random group of people who begin to develop/realize supernatural powers. I’ve seen the first episode *whistles innocently* and I think it can grow to become one helluva good show. It’s much more story-driven than the teaser vignettes would have us think, and there is a mysterious undercurrent that really makes me want to see more.I have a sneaking suspicion the ep was leaked by the creators, a la LOST, to get some buzz going for the show. I haven’t seen much said about it yet, but I really think you should try to catch it when it airs.

SG-1 was pretty good this week. Adria, while amazingly gorgeous, just screams “Glory” to me (Buffy reference). If she had an English accent, I think she’d be just right, but that’s just my opinion. Shep’s new best friend on SGA is awesome! He has surpassed everyone save Ronon and Lizzie as my favorite character on the show. I hope we see him again and again.

EDIT:  Just because I really like the three shiny new pics used, new (and default) theme: Up Front.

Second Verse…

Same as the first.  Work is just, um, wow.  I keep making the same corrections that I made earlier this year and things keep getting messed up (by others).  Yeah.  That’s how it is.  I’m sorry I haven’t been around much, but once the school year gets started and I do Dragon*Con, it’ll get better.  Promise.

I have to say, though, I’ve had a bit of LJ drama the past couple of days.  A very talented rec’er posted an eloquent poll about vidding and vid recommending.  I’m in awe of this person, so I answered.  I even left a comment about one of the subjects of the poll about visitors being turned off by bad graphics and poorly written summaries.  In my usual self-snarky way, I was like, “Aw, damn, my graphics SUCK and my few summaries do too.  I guess I’m in REAL trouble” or something to that effect.  The poster and a couple of other people were fun and nice and pretty much played along, but one chick, whom I have never heard of in ANY fandom was like, “Since you admit you suck at everything, I’ll NEVER watch your vids”.  Pfft.  Whatever.  This is a grown woman with cartoons (anime) on her site.  Just what vids of mine would this person even “get” anyway?!?  [info]bigbenalpha had the most lovely comeback and gawd! I just love him.  He said, “Well, if she can’t even understand your comment, your vids would be way over her head,” only entirely full of snarky goodness.  Yup.  He was just what I needed to put it behind me and um, get me back to work.  Hey, come to think of it, DAMN you, Ben.  I didn’t want to go back to work!  Hee!  Actually, the result of the whole ordeal is that I intend to use LJ even less than I already did, because I’m too old and apparently too witty for this crap.

G’night for now, and I hope to be back to my-crazy-posting-self soon!

What now?

The cancellation of SG-1 is hitting me pretty hard. Although I only got into it a couple of years ago, it has remained my number one show. I still like SGA quite a bit, and it was the reason I started watching SG-1, but SG-1 was my rock. I guess I’ll just keep looping my old discs on Friday nights. Or, possibly, I could actually, I dunno, DATE someone. Heh.

Whoa, baby!

Stop the presses! Stanislav Ivaneski (Viktor Krum) is going to be at Dragon*Con. Oh.My.Gawd. The next 17 days cannot pass quickly enough. *squee*

Kids.Arrgh!

Aug 04, 2006 in:

I was responsible for my nephew, Cage, for two and a half days and OMG am I tired. Seriously, how do people manage? He’s probably the most lovable, intelligent, adorable six-year-old ever, but he damn near killed me. I’m more convinced than ever that I don’t want kids, not because of Cage, just because of my low energy level.

I am pleased, however, to announce that I have recruited a miniature sci-fi fan in Cage. He loved SGA and Doctor Who, and that just makes me so proud! He already loves Star Wars and Harry Potter, so we had a blast hanging out. We watched Superman Returns, which he was kind of meh about (and so was I), oh, and he LOVES vids. His favorite was the Spiderman vid listed on Fanvid-Recs. Yes, he’s a great kid and he’s so frellin’ cute!!

My aunt and cousin from Ft. Lauderdale are in, as are my uncle and aunt from Knoxville, so we’re having a bit of a family reunion this weekend. Unfortunately, they all ventured down to their childhood hometown and won’t be back in time for dinner, so I’m on my own for tonight. Hmmm…what to eat in preparation of STARGATE night?!?!?

p.s. I’m on an Egyptian kick again, so default theme? Egyptian :wink2:

p.p.s. Going from the fridge to the cupboard and back is NOT helping dinner selection. Food has not, and will not, magically appear.

p.p.p.s.  Narayan isn’t coming to visit.  Eh, f’ him.
